Homework Week 4 24 February to 2 March 2017
This is a copy of the homework set for week 4 that was sent home in the homelinks book
Homework Week 4 Friday 24 February to Thursday 2 March
Dear Parents
Here is an outline of this week’s homework. A copy of homework can also be found on the class blog. pcspaterson.blogspot.co.nz Please check out the blog and leave positive comments on the children’s work. This can be done by clicking on the comment box for each post.
Reading in the back of Homelinks book (Monday to Thursday. I will not be in class on Tuesday so the children can read Monday’s book again and fill it in or choose a book from home)
Every child will have a list of words for their reading level put in their books. These are the high frequency words at their reading level. Learning to read and spell these words automatically will make reading at and passing the level easier. You can choose a few words at a time until they are all learnt. (IT IS NOT EXPECTED THAT THEY LEARN THEM ALL IN A WEEK)
Addition Maths Sheet
Spelling words written in their book. Testing is next Thursday. (Any words they got wrong in last weeks test will be added)
Writing On Wednesday and Thursday the children will be writing about a celebration they celebrate with their family that is special to their culture e.g. Matariki, Diwali, Christmas, Kite Day etc
To prepare for the writing could you please talk to your child about what your family does and write a list of special things you do, special food, where the event takes place etc. (Your child can write the list or they can talk and you can scribe for them).
A bullet pointed list like the example below would be helpful as the children can use it as a planning tool and to help them spell some of the key words.
I would appreciate it if the list could be written on a named piece of paper and be returned before Wednesday.
Example
Easter
Family go to church
Have a family lunch
Lunch at grandmas
Aunty, Uncles, Grandma, Poppa, Mum, Dad, Joe, me and all my cousins
Special food- hot cross buns, roast chicken, Grandma’s special apple sponge
Easter egg hunt in back garden
Every Easter march or April
Handwriting - This week we have been learning to form c, a, d, g, q correctly. You child can practise writing these letters in their Homelinks book. The correct formation technique is glued in their books. (This is an optional extra)
